Beauty in Different Countries
Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder, and when it comes to the different cultures in the world, this statement couldn't be truer.
We are literally programmed, by heritage and culture, to find certain looks attractive or not attractive. And, it has nothing to do with being a racist. It is really not something we can control - how we feel about the various formations of faces around us.
You may find, as a Caucasian South African, that you don't find the Japanese attractive at all. Another Caucasian South African may find them very appealing. Why is that? Studies on DNA and heritage, show that those who think they are one culture or nationality, are often a wide mix of a few, very often surprised by the DNA results.
In particular, there are some odd preferences in each culture, as we found out when doing a little research ourselves. So, if you find any of these attractive, it may be that you have a little of this nation in your blood.
A few that we found interesting were:
Japan
In Japan, you can go to the dentist to have a fang-like human tooth fitted over your own. Why, you ask? Well, they believe that this makes you look youthful and shows natural beauty. They call this yaeba.
Iran
As you know, many of the Iranian women only show their faces, covering up the rest of the body and head. And, many undergo plastic surgery so that they can produce that perfect face to the world. Some often leaving the bandages on their face, such as the nose, long after surgery, so they can show that they have taken the trouble to perfect themselves. It often is seen as a sign of wealth.
Tajikistan
Their idea of beauty, when it comes to women, is a uni-brow. Yes, you read that correctly. It is seen as the ultimate beauty trait - the bushier, the better. Throw those tweezers away, girls, and let it grow! And, if you can't, paint it on!
Korea
Think anime! That perfect heart-shaped girl, that looks a little like a cupie doll (remember those?) and has eyes bigger than seems humanly possible? Well, that's the look the Koreans love!
Papua New Guinea
They have their own form of tattoos that don't require any ink, simply a knife or tool. The Papua New Guinea residents believe that the more scars you inflict on your body, the more attractive you look and also the patterns have personal meanings too, showing the various stages of life.
Mauritania
If you've been struggling to lose unwanted weight, you may want to go live in Mauritania. As a female, having excessive weight is a sign of beauty there. The females are, from a young age, put on a special diet which aids them to gain weight, so that by the time they are at marrying age, they will be more attractive to a possible suitor.
These are just a few of the weird and wonderful cultural preferences from around the world.
I hope you enjoyed the info and with a bigger picture in mind, you are as beautiful as you decide you are.
