St Lukes Hospice

An institution that has been around since 1980, St Lukes Hospice is a non-profit organisation who transcends conventional in-patient care offering decentralised palliative care services in significantly marginalised communities within the greater precinct of Cape Town, South Africa.

Their patients are looked after at their six-day hospices which are community-based hubs for medical, psychosocial, and spiritual intervention. These day hospices have an overarching aim of providing care and support for terminally ill patients within their own culture and home environment.Their Vision:

Making a difference by providing and promoting quality palliative care for enhanced quality of life.

Their Mission:

To enhance the quality of life for people living with life-threatening illnesses through the provision and promotion of palliative care and enabling them to die with dignity.

I spent some time with the Management Team and staff - happy to give back to an amazing initiative and organisation.
